So, its official, I met yesterday with my friend and producer/engineer Jesse, and we have a new album in the works: “Back to Life: the Full Story”. Well, that’s the working title, but it’ll be something along those lines.
In February the band and I played a gig in Colorado Springs at a venue called The Loft. The show was recorded and when we listened back we decided it was a good ‘un. For years now people have commented that they like the live performance because of the narrative and the stories behind the songs … I hope, I think, we have captured those stories and emotions in this performance, and you, the listener will hear the woeful and joyful full story of the fall and rise of the Sparks in the album “Back to Life: the full story”!
This collection will contain our single: Back to Life and some songs that people have been asking for in recorded form for years … Pushy Old Wimen being one of them. Yes folks, it’ll finally be for sale. As well as Numb and Nauseous, Many, and Clean, three of my personal favs!
So, here as a taster is the song Numb and Nauseous on the day I first wrote it. As many of you may remember, a toothless Leyla-Mya comes in around mid-song to lighten up my sullen song and, trust me, she’ll make you smile.
No arrival date for the “Back to Life: the full story” yet, but it’ll be sometime in the next few months, and we’ll be blogging, playing, singing, dancing and a-videoing some silliness to promote it.
